Carl Von Linne 1707-1778 
Swedish botanist and physician.  
When 23 years old he became Curator of the gardens of the University of Lund.In 1741 he became Head of Botany at the University of Upsala where he remained until his death.
By some he is considered to be the Father of Botany; 
by others the last of a long line of systematists.His major works were: Systema Naturae (1735), Fundamenta Botanica (1736), Genera Plantarum (1737) and Philosophia Botanica (1751). 
His outstanding characteristic was his power of description and systematizing.
